After being threatened during a recent car-jacking, one Shepparton woman has been left feeling shaken.

At 8.30pm on Sunday, February 11, a man allegedly jumped into the passenger seat of the woman’s car at the traffic lights at the Wilmot Rd and Archer St intersection.

The man was unknown to her and allegedly demanded that she drive him to the nearest supermarket.

He then made alleged threats of violence if she didn’t comply.

Detective Senior Constable Mick Guppy said the woman, who was quite scared at the time, complied.

“She drove to the Woolworths on the corner of High St, and they both got out of the car and made their way into the supermarket,” Det Sen Constable Guppy said.

“At that point, the female separated herself from the vicinity of the offender and proceeded to call the police.”

A 29-year-old man was arrested on Monday morning and has now been charged with multiple offences connected to the incident, including false imprisonment.

The man is due to appear in court in the following days.

Det Sen Constable Guppy said if anyone witnessed the incidents, at either the Archer St and Wilmot Rd traffic lights or at the High St Woolworths, to contact police.

If you witnessed this event or have any dashcam footage, please contact Shepparton police on 5820 5777 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
