A committee that provides advice on gender, equality, representation, leadership, recognition and wellbeing of women in Greater Shepparton is seeking volunteers to serve on it.

Greater Shepparton City Council is inviting local residents to nominate for the Greater Shepparton Women’s Charter Advisory Committee, with applications closing at 5pm on Friday, September 8.

The committee also contributes to the development and implementation of the Greater Shepparton Women’s Charter Action Plan.

Mayor Shane Sali has encouraged interested residents to consider applying.

“The Greater Shepparton Women’s Charter Advisory Committee is passionate and committed to making a positive difference for women in the region,” he said.

“Being a part of the committee is not only rewarding, but also provides an opportunity for individuals to further develop their skills in problem-solving, leadership and teamwork.”

As charter champion, Cr Dinny Adem said the committee aimed to foster better opportunities for women.

“One of the core principles of the Greater Shepparton Women’s Charter Advisory Committee is diversity, ensuring the committee’s membership represents the diverse community of Greater Shepparton,” he said.

“It is vital that both women and men speak up about the issues and opportunities impacting women in our community.”
