Shepparton’s Primary Care Connect has been announced as the region’s newest Women’s Sexual and Reproductive Health hub.
PCC will join Warrnambool and the Latrobe Valley in receiving a new hub.
It comes as the Victorian Government has invested more than $10.5 million to expand the network of sexual and reproductive hubs across regional Victoria and establish three new hubs.
Primary Care Connect health services executive manager Leigh Stanbrook said it was a “significant investment” into providing holistic healthcare to women regionally.
“Women within the Greater Shepparton region deserve high quality healthcare, and this investment is a positive step forward for the women in our community to access critical sexual and reproductive healthcare,” she said.
While the organisation is currently further defining the scope of services that will be provided, it hass confirmed crucial resources will be delivered to women across their lives, from puberty through to menopause and beyond.
It will provide information and services on all forms of contraception, sexual health and termination of pregnancy options, along with early diagnosis and management of chronic conditions such as menopause, endometriosis and polycystic ovary syndrome.
The hub will also develop referral pathways for women who require surgical termination of pregnancy, in accordance with the statewide referral criteria for specialist clinics.
A commencement date of the hub will be announced in the near future.
