After their original opening date was postponed, the Echuca West Woolworths team have dusted themselves off and are all systems go for tomorrow’s opening at 10am.

Here are all the stylish and practical features of the new store:

Boasting 12 aisles, 10 assisted checkouts and seven registers, the new Echuca West Woolworths is set to amaze with its spacious layout and modern look.

Aligning with Woolworths’ objective of being fully sustainable by 2025, sustainability is clearly at the forefront of the store’s design, with an electronic price ticketing system having been installed.

Store manager Megg Savage said the price on the ticket automatically changes overnight based on signals received from computer sensors, which are positioned throughout the roof.

“Every week we would normally print about 5000 tickets, which are made of paper,” Ms Savage said.

“I think there are only about 15 stores in Victoria and Tasmania that have this technology.”

Meat and refrigerated products such as dips will also now be enclosed behind glass doors to keep the items colder and reduce the amount of energy being used.

And the sustainable initiatives don’t stop there.

Ms Savage said they have aligned with local farmers and Echuca Neighbourhood House to ensure excess food does not go to waste.

“All the food that we do not use or is close to expiry will go to Echuca Neighbourhood House, whereas any fresh produce leftovers such as lettuce leaves will go to local farmers,” she said.

One of the stellar stand-out features of the store is the drive-through direct-to-boot service, which will operate from 6am until 11.30pm.

The drive-through service area is covered, to protect employees from rain when loading groceries.

Ms Savage said the drive-through service could cater to up to 105 orders a day.

There are four drive-through parking spots available.

“All customers need to do is let us know 15 minutes before they arrive that they are going to be here and we’ll have the order all ready for them,” she said.

“You just drive to the front of the line and we’ll drop it straight into the boot for you.”

Customers can expect to be wowed by the full production bakery, hot food area, fresh produce department, deli, wide aisles, expansive assisted checkout area and partially covered car parking area.

Tourism within the region has undoubtedly been taken into account during the store’s design, with designated spaces allowing for caravans to park.

BWS will be co-ordinating their opening with Woolworths however the opening dates for the other tenants are yet to be announced.
