Worker charged with bestiality at piggery

A man has been charged with bestiality after an alleged incident at a piggery.

A man has been filmed on hidden camera allegedly performing a sexual act on an animal at a piggery near Stanhope.

Police allege the man performed a sexual act on a pig at Midland Bacon piggery on Robertson Rd at Carag Carag about 2.15am on February 11.

The alleged incident was caught on film by animal protection group Farm Transparency Project, which had installed a hidden camera at the facility to capture any alleged animal cruelty ahead of the public hearings of the Victorian parliamentary inquiry into pig welfare which began on Monday, March 11.

The group handed over the footage to police, who charged a 30-year-old man from the Campaspe Shire with bestiality on March 5.

The man has been bailed to appear at the Echuca Magistrates’ Court in June.

Country News attempted to contact the piggery for comment but was unsuccessful.
