When life gets busy, sometimes you need to take a step back.

Luckily for the residents and tourists of Seymour, the Blue Tongue Berries farm, located just outside Seymour, is the perfect place for everything from a nice lunch to a short stay.

The farm is located on a hill, providing visitors with a sweeping view of the area.

The hilly area is ideal for those wanting to breathe in the fresh air, get together with friends or colleagues, or take out their paintbrush and get artistic.

Blue Tongue Berries is owned by Cynthia Lim and Nick Bray, and the farm, which grows blueberries, has been around for 23 years.

According to Ms Lim, they decided to build accommodation and a function area roughly eight years ago.

Unlike other venues, Ms Lim and her husband chose to keep the operation small.

“We want to offer a special experience for our guests,” Ms Lim said.

“We chose to remain small and host groups of up to 20 people to offer them a unique and personal experience.”

Recently, the farm hosted the Seymour District Arts Society for an end-of-year event.

Members of the group took the opportunity to paint the beautiful vistas before settling down for a relaxed lunch.

What sets Blue Tongue Berries apart is that guests who hire the function rooms get just about the whole farm area to themselves.

“It’s what people like. People can host meetings and conferences in their own private space,” Ms Lim said.

However, the farm isn’t just open to those seeking a discreet function area or accommodation.

For those just wanting to pop by this summer, the farm’s lunch-only cafe is the perfect place to unwind, surrounded by nature.

The cafe’s operating season starts on Friday, December 8, and operates from Friday to Sunday for December and January.

Ms Lim said the cafe was a great place to catch up with friends or family.

“It is a set menu of dumplings, all made in-house,” Ms Lim said.

“The meal ends with the famous Blue Tongue Berries tart.”

People seeking to try out the delicious blueberries grown at the farm can do so by popping into the farm itself.

Alternatively, the blueberries can be bought in Seymour at Baracca Lane, Avenel Fair Food in Avenel and The Meat Room in Kilmore East.

So whether you are after a stay in the hills, a delicious lunch, or merely seeking some of the tastiest blueberries in the region, Ms Lim encourages anyone to come along and pay a visit.

“We guarantee the tastiest blueberries you’ve ever eaten,” she said.
