Hold the phone ads

Eyewatch: Police would like to speak to this woman in relation to the theft of a mobile phone.

Oddie was amused.

Not by the Greater Shepparton Police Eyewatch post with a photo of a woman they wish to have a conversation with about an incident at a Corio St business where a mobile phone was stolen, that’s just wrong.

It was because when it popped into the OddBall Facebook feed it was immediately followed by a sponsored post from a retailer for the iPhone 12.

Oddie would call that an algorithm fail.

Anyway, if you recognise the person who may be able to assist with inquiries you can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Face of diversity

Representing Shepparton: Councillor Seema Abdullah.

City of Greater Shepparton councillor Seema Abdullah has been elected and re-elected on the basis of her skills and passion for the community.

She is now the face of a Victorian Local Governance Association campaign called REPRESENT to encourage people from diverse backgrounds to run for council.

Cr Abdullah is on the cover of the handbook, but inside Mayor Shane Sali and Cr Greg James are also included.

You can add Cr Dinny Adem to the mix, proving that in Shepp at least, cultural diversity is no barrier.

King of the kids

There wouldn’t be any motivational one-liner or coach’s challenge that Tatura 300-gamer Lincoln Wellington hasn’t heard.

In his 302nd game on the weekend he didn’t head to the rooms at half time; instead, he stayed on the ground and helped out with the little league match.

Community footy at its best.
