Oddie was alerted to a buzz among the local community noticeboards this week.
The culprit? Some seemingly mis-placed road signage around the Murchison, Euroa and Violet Town areas.
After some digging, it was confirmed that someone other than the organisation responsible for the upkeep of the signage had been moving them around.
“We are aware that road signs in Violet Town, Murchison and Euroa have been altered by someone outside of the Department of Transport and Planning,” DTP acting regional director (Hume) Emma Bamford said.
“We are working to return the signs to their correct positions.”
Members of the community who come across an incorrect sign — or any other issues on the road network — can report it by calling 13 11 70.
Disappearing act
Some concerned readers have noted Oddie’s recent absence from the pages of The News.
After submitting his last column in early July, Oddie became so fed up with seeing his social media feed swamped with photos of the glorious European summer that he decided he would get some Northern Hemisphere sun himself.

Christmas in... August?
It may be September now, but Oddie’s spies were surprised to see Christmas puddings on sale in local supermarkets last month.
It has also come to Oddie’s attention that Christmas decorations have already popped up in recent weeks.
All power to those who are organised enough to be thinking about the festive season — Oddie’s still unsure what’s on the menu for dinner tonight.
Canine training
With the weather warming up, those heading out in nature need to be aware of the possibility of snakes sharing the same space.
That goes for our four-legged friends as well.
For those looking for extra tips and tricks, a snake avoidance training class is being held at A Waggin’ Good Time Pet Resort in Zeerust on Saturday from 9.30am.
