Oddie was interested to read in the Kyabram Free Press — sister paper of The News — this week that a celebrity would be soon be in town to promote a residential development.

Former footballer Sam Kekovich will complete his Australian ‘Lambassador’ duties and become the face of a 205-lot Kyabram residential development that will adjoin the Parkland Golf Course.

His famous deadpan direct-to-camera monologue style will be used by property developer Gary Evans, from Menzies Property Group, to launch an advertising campaign for the 40.46-hectare South Boundary and McEwen roads development from late January.

Oddie reckons a stipulation that lamb must be the preferred dish of each house-warming barbecue should be written into each contract of sale.

Should I PayStay or should I go?

A few News readers touched base with Oddie last week about some confusion around the council’s free parking initiative throughout December and January.

Users of the PayStay app — which allows you to pay for parking from your mobile — received a couple of push notifications from PayStay customer service, the second of which said the following:

“Our records show that you are one of a handful of app users that may have viewed a pop-up notice advising of complimentary parking commencing 1st December 2022. Please disregard that notice,” it said.

“Parking fees remain unchanged for the area in which you are parking. Current fees displayed in the PayStay App apply as usual.”

But after some digging, Oddie was able to confirm that the second message was an app error, and that indeed parking in Greater Shepparton City Council on-street parking spaces is free until the start of February.
