Oddie | Footlong feast on wheels

By Oddie
On its way: The Sub Bus — and Burger Trailer — will be in Shepparton on Friday.

You don’t see a 13.44m Footlong every day of the week.

But Shepparton residents will get the chance on Friday, as ‘Australia’s largest ever Sub’ — as declared by Subway — rolls into town.

Redefinition of the imperial measurement system aside, the impressive Footlong is on a 26-day journey along the east coast of Australia.

It will stop in Maude St from 11am, and Oddie hears there’s some free food and merch available for passers-by.

The Sub Bus will be in Maude St until 3pm, and will also be joined by the ‘Burger Trailer’ as a size comparison exercise.

Personally, Oddie thinks mega versions of products travelling the country is how every business should showcase its wares — why should the Big Banana have all the fun?

Dual sporting skills

Oddie noted the cross-code debut of a former soccer star in the Kyabram District League reserves on Saturday.

Onlookers at Rushworth’s Ironbark Stadium were still treated to some of the round ball veteran’s best foot skills though, when he roved a pack at speed and — instead of bending down to pick up the ball — sent his boot through it from 10 yards.

The goal (umpire) keeper never stood a chance.

Oddie was most impressed by the spontaneous corner-flag punching from many of his teammates

But apologies must go out to Mr Cahill — the celebration is widely dubbed the ‘Josh Rachele’ in these parts now.
