Podcast recommendations from a daily commuter

What’s you podcast of choice? Photo by Djembe Archibald

Each day I drive for a total of 45 minutes to get to and from work and the only way I manage to pass the time after a long day is a good ol’ podcast.

If you’re like me and need audio at any given time to function, check out my top three, with my favourite being at the bottom.

3. The Basement Yard

These guys are all over your ‘for you’ page. I just know it.

Joey and Frankie, the two dudes; come on, you know them.

They are just two best friends who make me laugh until I can’t breathe and I can’t thank them enough for it.

Just listen to them, you’ll see what I mean.

2. Is It Just Me?

Mitch and Mitch trash-talk life, but it’s not just two guys chatting.

It feels kind of like a radio show. They have different segments which makes it less ‘train of thought-y’.

They’re funny, they’re obviously good mates and no topic is out of bounds.

Listening to these two idiots (respectfully) can make an hour and a half feel like 10 minutes.

Warning: Do not listen to this podcast if you’re not okay with laughing in public because it will happen. I learnt the hard way.

1. Normal Gossip

I love being nosy and it’s a big part of a journalist’s job.

If you love a good bit of gossip, ‘friend of a friend’-type stuff, Normal Gossip is a must.

Every episode they bring you some gossip that has been sent in from their listeners and when I tell you it is big tea, I mean it.

I have been known to drop my jaw while listening to it.

A new co-host joins host Kelsey McKinney every episode and sometimes the banter between the gossip is what elevates a good episode into greatness.

If you just want to dip your toe in the world of gossip, I’d specifically recommend episode 25: Bridesmaids and an Empath with Jasmine Ellis.

Now go forth, dear readers, and enjoy a good listen.

Don’t come complaining to me if you become addicted to any of them — I warned you.
