The week before Christmas, shoppers poured in to Shepparton Marketplace, weaving beneath tinsel and twinkling lights to find the perfect gifts for their loved ones.

With stores fillled with various stocking stuffers, why wouldn’t you?

But there’s another reason for the crowds.

In the spirit of the season, shoppers can win one of three I Love This Shop gift vouchers.

To enter the draw, customers must spend $50 or more at any participating store listed in the Greater Shepparton Greater Christmas 2024 Gift Guide and complete the entry form, available in-store or online.

News journalist Taylah Baker spoke with community members at the Shepparton Marketplace about the importance of shopping locally.

It’s part of being a good community. And it’s amazing how you can catch up with people out shopping. This time of year, it’s important to give back. It makes me sad to see shops closing.

For starters, it’s important to put money back into the community, keep the businesses able to operate. What goes around comes around – it’s spreading the money all throughout the community.

I’ve been in Shepparton for over three years, and I find anything you can buy in Melbourne is all here. It supports the shops around here, particularly after COVID. If you shop local, shop people actually get to know you and you keep going back. They’re always friendly, unlike bigger cities, where they’re always in a rush.
