A car allegedly drove on to the wrong side of the road and hit a parked vehicle, pushing it into a power pole in a hit-and-run on Thursday, August 11.

Shepparton police Sergeant Josh McCabe said the red Commodore was travelling north on Welsford St, Sheparton, when it allegedly crossed on to the wrong side of the road and hit the front of a parked four-wheel drive on the opposite side, before reversing and driving off.

Sgt McCabe said the car allegedly took off and tried to get away from police who saw the incident.

The Commodore was extensively damaged and found not far away.

A Shepparton man will be charged with unlicensed driving and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.
