Tatura police say the man was more than four times the legal blood alcohol limit.

A man was allegedly caught drink driving with a blood alcohol level of more than four times the legal limit on Sunday, November 17.

Tatura police said the man struggled to find the fuel cap release on his car and opened the boot instead after he entered a service station at about 10pm.

Police said he appeared unsteady when he went to go pay for his fuel, after which they requested him to take a preliminary breath test.

He was taken to Tatura Police Station for further breath testing, where he recorded an alleged breath alcohol concentration of 0.209.

Police said he was driving while disqualified, and had an outstanding warrant.

His vehicle was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1200, and he will appear at Shepparton Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
