An allegedly stolen four-wheel drive was involved in a crash at Mooroopna North on Monday.

An allegedly stolen vehicle rolled in Mooroopna North on Monday, December 16.

Shepparton Crime Investigation Unit Detective Acting Sergeant Matt Clowes said a Toyota LandCruiser worth $180,000 was stolen from a home in McNamara Rd, Toolamba shortly before 3.50am on Monday.

The 2020-21 red LandCruiser was then sighted in the Shepparton central business district about 11am.

Police tracked it into bush in the Gemmill Swamp area off McFarlane Rd in Mooroopna.

Stop sticks were deployed by police on Cemetery Rd in Mooroopna North.

The four-wheel drive then continued north on Echuca Rd, before rolling and coming to a rest on its side in a table drain a short distance later, Det Act Sgt Clowes said.

The police officer said the crash occurred at a low speed.

A 44-year-old Mooroopna man was removed from the vehicle and arrested by police.

He was charged with theft of a vehicle and possessing a drug of dependence and has been remanded in custody to face Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on Friday, December 20.
