Damage caused to The Bottle-O Steve’s Liquor Echuca when it was broken into on Tuesday, June 7 was worth more than “what they stole”, according to store senior manager Justin Howson.

Echuca Detective Senior Constable Paul Wickham said three people forced entry into the store on the Northern Hwy about 2:30am.

He said the people stole liquor and cigarettes before driving away in a silver Hyundai sedan.

Mr Howson said they rammed the front door with the car, causing massive damage to the premises.

“They caused a lot more damage than they actually stole,” he said.

“It’s one of those meaningless crimes.”

Detective Sen Constable Wickham said police were reviewing CCTV footage of the break-in and examining forensic evidence.

Anyone with information about the incident, or who knows the whereabouts of the stolen goods or the vehicle, is urged to phone Echuca Police Station on 5483 1500. An anonymous report can be made via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit www.crimestoppers.com.au
