Car ‘lit up’ in Shepparton street

Emergency services were called to a car fire at the intersection of Golf Dve and Reedy Swamp Rd, Shepparton, early on Wednesday, December 18.

A car was destroyed after police believe it was lit on fire early on Wednesday, December 18.

Shepparton Crime Investigation Unit Detective Senior Constable Mick Guppy said emergency services were called to the car on fire at the intersection of Golf Dve and Reedy Swamp Rd at Shepparton about 1am after someone saw “a flash of fire”.

Firefighters put out the car fire as well as spot fires in nearby grass.

Det Sen Constable Guppy said the 2007 silver Ford Falcon sedan had been “lit up”, and police were looking for its owner.

The car had not been reported as stolen, according to police.

When police contacted the registered owner, they were told the car had been sold but the former owner could not remember who to.
