An Echuca man has been arrested and charged with a string of robberies on local accommodation providers.
The 27-year-old man was taken into custody on Tuesday, February 27, after Campaspe Crime Investigation Unit detectives and Echuca police members conducted searches of two Northern Hwy properties.
The man has since been charged with aggravated burglary, theft, car theft and committing indictable offences while on bail.
Campaspe Crime Investigation Unit Detective Senior Constable Troy Wickham said a large quantity of property was seized by police, with additional charges anticipated.
“Personal possessions such as identity cards, bags, phones and electrical devices (were seized, and) a quantity of hand tools likely belonging to tradespeople,” he said.
“Inquiries are ongoing and we plan to release some photos to the public of certain items.”
The accommodation providers have not been named to protect their businesses.
The man was remanded in custody to appear at the Echuca Magistrates’ Court in March.
Det Sen Constable Wickham said the majority of these offences were committed on unlocked buildings and vehicles, and urged local businesses to remain vigilant.
Police thanked members of the public and local business operators who assisted in the investigation.
