A 135-metre burnout near a country Goulburn Valley pub has been a costly exercise for one motorbike rider.

Jordan Boxtel, 27, of Smithfield in Queensland, was convicted in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court of a charge of driving a vehicle causing loss of traction.

Boxtel did not attend court and the matter was heard in his absence.

Prosecutor Leading Senior Constable Deryn Boote told the court police saw a large amount of smoke and heard a squeal of tyres in Baldock St in Dookie on April 7.

Police said Boxtel had done a 135m burnout on his Harley-Davidson motorbike.

The motorbike was impounded for 30 days under anti-hoon legislation.

Leading Sen Constable Boote said Boxtel told police he had been drinking at a nearby pub and that he did not have any reason for the burnout, which he said was “dumb” and he had been “just being stupid”.

Boxtel was fined $500.
