A traffic incident in Mooroopna on Tuesday morning was causing delays and saw two people taken to hospital.

Police said a 60-year-old male driving a dual-cab ute from Shepparton to Mooroopna suffered a medical episode around 9.35am.

He crossed to the other side of McLennan St and crashed into the construction site on the corner of Elizabeth and McLennan Sts.

The ute he was driving hit the scaffolding surrounding the building, causing a 33-year-old male construction worker to fall from the scaffolding.

The 33-year-old suffered lacerations to the back of his head.

Both the driver and the construction worker were taken to GV Health for assessment in stable conditions.

Emergency services on scene — including police, fire and ambulance representatives — blocked off part of Elizabeth St and traffic was moving slowly on McLennan St towards the causeway.

Police said WorkSafe representatives were on their way to assess the scene.
