A learner driver who was caught drink driving has faced court.

A learner driver was caught well over the legal alcohol limit after work drinks, a court has heard.

Daniel Nisu, 31, of Mooroopna North, pleaded guilty in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court to drink driving and being a learner driver without a supervising driver.

Prosecutor Leading Senior Constable Chris Cole said Nisu recorded a blood alcohol concentration of 0.124 when police pulled him over and breath-tested him at 3.03am on April 27.

Nisu told police at the time he had consumed four Carlton Drys, and had started drinking at 11.30pm.

He also only had his learner’s licence, and there were four other people in the car who didn’t have their licence.

Nisu’s defence solicitor, John McNamara, said his client had “succumbed to peer pressure” to have a drink with his boss at a Shepparton hotel, before getting behind the wheel.

He was fined $800 and disqualified from driving for 12 months, backdated to start on the date of the offence.
