A drug driver who was caught speeding has been fined $800.
Brenton Cooper, 49, of Shepparton, was charged with speeding, drug driving and failing to provide a change of address to VicRoads.
His matter was heard in his absence at Shepparton Magistrates’ Court.
Prosecutor Samantha Owen told the court Cooper was driving at 95km/h in an 80km/h speed zone when he was stopped by police on the Midland Hwy at Mooroopna on February 27 last year.
Ms Owen said Cooper also tested positive to methamphetamines in an oral fluid test.
When interviewed by police, Cooper said his reason for driving was because he’d “just had an argument”, Ms Owen said.
The court also heard he had not changed his address with VicRoads after he moved house.
The court was told he had two relevant priors from 2018 and 2020.
Cooper was fined $800 and has been disqualified from driving for 12 months.
