A drug driver had a laser pointer in her car as she drove up a road outside a prison, a court has heard.
Maria Borderi, 54, of Euroa, pleaded guilty in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court to drug driving and possessing a controlled weapon.
Prosecutor Leading Senior Constable Deryn Boote told the court Borderi was pulled over by police who were drug testing drivers on Dhurringile Prison Rd outside Dhurringile Prison on February 17.
Borderi tested positive for methamphetamines in the drug driving test.
She also had a laser pointer in her boot, which was confiscated by police as it is a prohibited weapon.
Leading Sen Constable Boote said Borderi, when interviewed, told police she had had “two puffs” of methamphetamines the previous night.
She also said the laser pointer belonged to her son, and it had been left at her house in Euroa and she was taking it to him.
Borderi was fined $500.
She was also disqualified from driving for six months from October 14, with the later date allowed by the magistrate after she told how she was in the process of selling her house and also needed to visit her sick grandmother in Sydney.
