Echuca driver busted at more than three times the speed limit

An Echuca driver is alleged to have been caught driving 86km over the speed limit in Eppalock on Sunday.

Officers attached to Macedon Ranges Highway Patrol observed the black utility overtaking numerous vehicles in a dangerous manner on Axedale-Kimbolton Road around 4.15pm.

The vehicle was clocked travelling more than three times the posted speed limit, with the speed check alleging the vehicle was travelling at 126km/h in a 40km/h zone.

The 45-year-old Echuca man’s vehicle was impounded at a cost of $975.

He is expected to be charged on summons with offences including dangerous driving, exceeding the speed limit by 45km/h or more, conducting an unsafe overtake and driving to the right of double lines.
