A woman has been flown to hospital in Melbourne with non-life-threatening injuries after a collision in Tallygaroopna.

Emergency services were called to a crash between a car and a ute towing a horse float at the intersection of Victoria and Edward Rds about 7.50am on Thursday, July 7.

Shepparton Sergeant Tim Metcalfe said the car was travelling north along Edwards Rd, and the ute towing the horse float was travelling east on Victoria Rd when the collision occured.

He said the crash caused the ute to detatch from the float and roll on to its roof. The two occupants suffered minor injured and the horses inside the float were unharmed.

The car veered into a tree, Sgt Metcalfe said.

An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said a woman in her 30s was airlifted to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a stable condition.

The spokesperson said a man in his 30s was transferred to Goulburn Valley Health in a serious but stable condition. A man and woman in their 70s were also taken to GV health in a stable condition.

All four people suffered upper body injuries, the spokesperson said.

Sgt Metcalfe said while there was a give way sign at the intersection, incidents at intersections similar to this were a common occurrence.

“People just need to slow down and check,” he said.

Sgt Metcalfe said police will launch an investigation into the cause of the accident.

More to come.
