Police are investigating an armed robbery where a vehicle was forced to pull over on a main Shepparton road by people armed with a hammer on Saturday, June 22.

Police believe the two victims were driving in a silver Holden Rodeo on the Goulburn Valley Hwy between Wanganui Rd and Barmah-Shepparton Rd at about 9.10pm.

Police said another vehicle, believed to be a white four-wheel drive, pulled in front of the Rodeo, forcing it to pull over.

A man and a woman got out of the four-wheel drive and approached the victims’ vehicle, police said.

Police allege the woman screamed at one victim, demanding money.

The man used a hammer to damage the Holden before demanding one victim’s phone, police said.

The victim refused to hand over her phone and the man took the keys to the Holden, according to police.

Officers have been told the man and woman left the scene in the white four-wheel drive.

The man is described as being in his early 20s with dark hair.

The woman is described as being in her early 20s with shoulder-length blonde hair.

No-one was injured during the incident.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage is urged to contact Shepparton police on 5820 5777 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or www.crimestoppers.com.au
