Two imitation guns were found in a Shepparton home, a court has heard.

Darby Schmuck, 29, of Shepparton, pleaded guilty in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court to possessing an imitation firearm, possessing methamphetamine and possessing testosterone.

Senior Constable Sarah Bird said police found a black BB gun and a white and gold BB gun when they searched his Shepparton home on February 3.

Both of the BB guns looked like real handguns, Sen Constable Bird said.

Schmuck did not have a firearms licence and told police “I only just bought them cause I was bored, that was it”.

Police also found 0.81g of methamphetamine and a vial of testosterone on Schmuck when they pulled him up riding his bike on The Boulevard, Shepparton about six weeks earlier on December 26, 2023.

Defence solicitor Shana McDonald said her client had spiralled after his four-year-long stable relationship ended in 2021 but was now “back on track”.

She also told the court Schmuck had a “strong work history”, stable accommodation and a relatively limited criminal history.

Schmuck was fined $1200.
