Shepparton police are reminding residents to keep their unattended cars locked after a spate of thefts at the weekend.
Shepparton Crime Investigation Unit Detective Senior Constable Andrew Costello said a 20-year-old Echuca man had been charged after allegedly stealing items from three cars overnight on Friday, February 21.
He said the vehicles were all within a 1km radius of the Shepparton train station.
The man allegedly used bank cards stolen from the vehicles to make purchases.
He was charged with five counts of obtaining property by deception and has been bailed to appear in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court in June.
Det Sen Constable Costello urged people to not leave items of value inside cars and to make sure their cars were locked.
