UPDATE, Tuesday September 24, 9.30am: Police provide more information
Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the serious collision in Shepparton East yesterday afternoon.
Investigators have been told that an allegedly stolen Holden Cruze and a truck collided near the intersection of Hosie Rd and the Midland Hwy.
The alleged driver of the Cruze, a 16-year-old girl, has been taken to hospital with injuries.
An 11-year-old boy who was a passenger in the car was taken to hospital with critical injuries.
Another passenger, a 15-year-old boy, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the truck, a 48-year-old woman, was also taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The investigation into the collision is ongoing.
UPDATE, 4.30pm: Two people have been critically injured after a truck and a car collided in Shepparton East.
Police said at this stage investigators believe three people were travelling in the car.
One of the occupants is being treated by paramedics for critical injuries, police said.
The driver of the truck is also being treated for critical injuries.
A second air ambulance helicopter has just arrived on the scene.
The two other car occupants are being treated for non-life threatening injuries, according to police.
EARLIER: Emergency services are on the scene and diverting traffic on a main road in Greater Shepparton.
The Midland Hwy, Shepparton East, is closed in both directions either side of Hosie Rd following a serious collision around 3.30pm on Monday, September 23.
Police are stopping eastbound traffic at Central Ave, and are advising those travelling in the area to detour around the closure via Doyles Rd, New Dookie Rd and Boundary Rd — as well as allow extra time for their journey.
An Air Ambulance helicopter landed at the scene just after 4pm.
