A man was arrested on Thursday after an alleged home invasion in Shepparton last year, but four others are still sought by police.

The alleged incident left two Shepparton residents with serious injuries — one who remains in hospital with limited function of his leg after receiving a life-threatening stab wound.

Police allege five male offenders entered the Sidney Crt, Shepparton address shortly after 9.20pm on September 2, 2022.

Police said the two male residents were assaulted and airlifted to the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

Thursday’s arrest follows an extensive investigation by Shepparton Crime Investigation Unit, aided by reports from the public and witnesses on the evening.

A 19-year-old Geelong West man will be charged on summons.

Police are still seeking four male offenders, all of African appearance, in relation to the incident and encourage anyone with information to contact the Shepparton Crime Investigation Unit on 5820 5777 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
