Man charged in relation to multiple alleged burglaries and thefts

Echuca Police have charged a man in relation to a number of burglaries and thefts in the area since the beginning of May.

Acting Senior Sergeant Stuart Poulton said the charges were in relation to a number of incidents over the past two months, including an alleged car theft from Murray Human Services on May 3, and Echuca Used Car Sales on May 26.

Two vehicles were stolen from the car sales yard, and one was found dumped in a Macedon farm dam on Thursday, June 2.

Sen Sgt Poulton said the man was allegedly involved in a burglary at Bendigo Club in Strathvale on Wednesday, May 31, and he was also allegedly involved in a theft from motor vehicle and criminal damage incident which occurred on Matong Rd, Echuca, on Thursday, June 1.

A 35-year-old Echuca man has been charged with one count of aggravated burglary, three counts of burglary, two counts of car theft, criminal damage, theft from car, and theft, Sen Sgt Poulton said.

The man was already remanded in custody before he was charged, and will appear in Bendigo Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
