A man who allegedly stole a ute in Euroa and was later involved in a crash where a motorcyclist died has faced court.

David Graham Berry, 44, of Seymour, briefly faced Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on charges of dangerous driving causing death and culpable driving causing death.

He is also charged with drug driving, drink driving, failing to stop after a crash, failing to assist after a crash, speeding, driving on the wrong side of the road and unlicensed driving.

These charges relate to a fatal crash between a ute and a motorcyclist on the Maroondah Hwy at Yarck, where the motorcyclist died, on Wednesday, May 8.

Mr Berry is also charged with stealing the $40,000 2017 white Ford Ranger ute involved in the crash from Euroa earlier that day.

He is also charged with burglary at a Euroa motel, theft of the ute keys and theft of a radio from Euroa.

At this stage Mr Berry has indicated he intends to fight the charges and will next appear in court in a contested committal hearing in February next year.
