Man treated for burns after Shepparton car fire

An elderly man is being treated for burns after a car fire in Shepparton on Thursday morning.

Shepparton police Sergeant Jake Sinclair said the fire in the carport of a Hamilton St home was not being treated as suspicious.

He said a 79-year-old Shepparton man who was involved had been taken to Goulburn Valley Health.

Fire Rescue Victoria senior station officer Mark Whitehead said when firefighters arrived at the property it looked like the car had crashed and the fire was “going well”.

He said the fire had damaged the carport and the fence next to it.

Emergency services were called to the fire about 10am on August 25.
