Mooroopna garage fire being treated as suspicious

A garage fire in Mooroopna on Sunday, February 27, is being treated as suspicious by police.

A CFA spokesperson said four vehicles responded to a “column of smoke” behind a shop on Mill St, Mooroopna, just after 2.30pm.

The spokesperson said the fire was in a brick garage, which contained household items at the rear of the shop.

CFA firefighters, supported by crews from Fire Rescue Victoria, declared the scene under control just before 3pm, the spokesperson said.

A Victoria Police spokesperson said no one was injured in the fire.

Shepparton police Detective Senior Constable Luke Arrowsmith said police were investigating the cause of the blaze and were treating the blaze as suspicious.

Det Sen Constable Arrowsmith said police were appealling to anyone with information to contact the Shepparton Police Station on 5820 5777.

Alternatively, anyone with information can submit an anonymous report via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
