Mooroopna house fire being treated as suspicious

House fire deemed suspicious: Police are investigating the cause of a house fire in Mooroopna on Wednesday night.

A house fire in Mooroopna is being treated as suspicious after a property sustained “substantial damage” on Wednesday, February 9.

Volunteer firefighters were supported by Fire Rescue Victoria crews to contain the blaze, which was deemed under control by 10.20pm, the spokesperson said.

Shepparton police Senior Constable Jessica Williams said the unit sustained “substantial damage”.

No-one was home at the time of the blaze, she said.

A CFA spokesperson said firefighters were called to reports of the fire at 9.50pm.

Sen Constable Williams said the fire was being treated as suspicious.

Arson chemists from Melbourne would attend the property to determine the cause of the fire, she said.
