A motorcycle rider has been taken to hospital for further assessment after a collision with an SUV at the intersection of Corio and High Sts in Shepparton on Tuesday afternoon.
Police said the motorcycle was hit by the SUV, and they did not believe the car stopped.
Witnesses told officers the car continued driving north on Corio St after the incident, according to police.
Police said no serious injuries were noted at the scene, but the motorcycle rider, a Shepparton man in his 60s, was taken to hospital for further assessment and treatment.
Ambulance Victoria said paramedics were called to the collision around 1.40pm and took one person to Goulburn Valley Health via ambulance.
Shepparton police are asking witnesses who have not already given a statement to contact them, as well as anyone who may have dashcam footage of the incident.
The collision comes in the wake of alarming statistics about motorcyclist fatalities.
More than 50 people have died on Victorian roads in 2024, according to Victoria Police.
This year has seen the highest number of motorcycle rider fatalities in a decade between the months of January and September.
October is Motorcycle Awareness Month.
