A man who yelled abuse through a phone at his former partner in front of their young daughter has been fined.

The Numurkah man pleaded guilty to cultivating cannabis and contravention of a family violence interim intervention order.

In May 2020, the man had a full interim intervention order in place by his former partner.

The court heard their nine-year-old daughter was staying with the man at the time.

While the daughter was on speaker phone on a call with her mother, the man could be heard in the background yelling a string of expletives at the mother.

The court also heard police found two small hydroponic set-ups at the Numurkah property and four cannabis plants under a metre tall were seized on January 2, 2021.

The man’s defence said alcohol and cannabis had been an issue for the man since his 15-year-long relationship ended.

Magistrate Marita Altman convicted the man fined him $500.
