Plea entered on Shepparton manslaughter charge

A man has formally entered a plea on a manslaughter charge after the death of his partner last year.

A man has entered a plea to a manslaughter charge over the death of his partner at their Shepparton home.

Adam Winmar, 29, of Collingwood, formally entered a not guilty plea in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court to charges of manslaughter and possessing a firearm while a prohibited person.

The charges come after the death of his partner Kiara Ferguson at their Shepparton home last year.

Ms Ferguson died from a gunshot wound at their McCubbin Dve home on April 1, 2023.

Magistrate Simon Zebrowski committed Mr Winmar to stand trial in the Supreme Court, with his first appearance for a directions hearing in July.

The Magistrates’ Court matter was watched on by members of Mr Winmar’s family in the courtroom and Ms Ferguson’s on video links.

Mr Winmar, who was living in Shepparton at the time of the incident, remains on bail.
