Moama Police officers took a moment to reflect and acknowledge fallen officers yesterday.

September 29, National Police Remembrance Day, is an opportunity for serving and retired officers to remember the police who have lost their lives in the line of the duty.

Inspector Paul Huggett of the Murray River Police District said they usually hold a ceremony, however, with the Deni Ute Muster kicking off today, a lot of their energy has gone towards creating a safe event.

“Everyone in our team took a moment to pause, reflect and pay our respects to those who have given their lives to the front line,” Insp Huggett said.

“Whether an officer has been in service for five minutes, five years or fifty years, they have given service to the community, and they’ve put themselves in harm’s way – both mental and physical harm, so it’s important that we take a moment to think about that.”

Officers attached to the Echuca Police Station attended the Bendigo service this year as COVID-19 impacted the organisation of their usual remembrance ceremony.
