Road closed following fatal collision near Bunbartha

Police are advising motorists to avoid the area after a fatal car collision near Bunbartha this morning.

According to police, two cars collided head-on on the Shepparton-Barmah Rd at about 6.15am.

The 40-year-old Nathalia man who drove of one of the vehicles died at the scene.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 21-year-old NSW man, was airlifted to Royal Melbourne Hospital in a critical condition with upper and lower body injuries.

The circumstances surrounding the collision are yet to be determined.

The Major Collision Investigation Unit is travelling to the scene this morning.

The road is expected to remain closed for hours while investigations are carried out.

Police advise motorists travelling to or from the Nathalia area to use the Goulburn Valley Hwy.
