A cyclist has been taken to hospital after a collision with a bus.

Shepparton police First Constable Ryan Sheridan said a 76-year-old Shepparton male cyclist collided with a stopped bus at the Graham St and Goulburn Valley Hwy intersection in Shepparton at about 10.19am on Monday, July 29.

The cyclist was travelling south when he tried to avoid a car that allegedly failed to give way while turning right, but then began braking.

The driver of the car was an 81-year-old Shepparton man.

The driver of the bus was a 31-year-old Shepparton man.

The cyclist had bruising but no life-threatening injuries, and was in hospital for observation.
