Homicide Squad detectives have charged a Shepparton man overnight as part of an investigation into a fatal stabbing in Docklands earlier this month.

Mageri Sari, 19, has been charged with violent disorder and affray, following an incident on March 13 when Alier Riak, 23, was fatally stabbed and his brother Kuol, 26, was seriously injured.

Police have charged five people in relation to the alleged incident with a range of offences including murder, violent disorder and affray.

Mr Sari appeared briefly in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday but made no application for bail.

He has been remanded in custody and will appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court again for a committal mention on July 28.
