After damaging about $6000 worth of property in the Shepparton CBD, a man has faced court.
Ayden Joargenson, 21, of Shepparton, pleaded guilty in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court to three counts of damaging property.
Prosecutor Senior Constable Ethan Hamill said Joargenson kicked in the glass shop front windows of Intersport Shepparton, Augustus Gelatery Shepparton and Caseway Shepparton in Maude St Mall, at about 2am on February 11.
The three glass windows damaged were valued at about $2000 each, the court heard.
Representing himself in court, Joargenson told magistrate Amina Bhai he was “extremely intoxicated” when committing the offences.
Joargenson said a family friend of his knew the owner of the ice cream store, whom he was going to organise to speak to, but that never happened.
He also said he was “potentially going to speak to someone” about his alcohol use.
Ms Bhai said although it was Joargenson’s first time in the magistrates’ court, she was “concerned about the connection between alcohol and offending”.
Ms Bhai deferred sentencing Joargenson until December, to give him time to meet with the stores to organise a payment plan and repay the damage, and have alcohol counselling.
