Thieves’ getaway car window smashed in Shepparton bicycle heist

Thieves accidentally smashed their SUV’s window during an early morning robbery.

Balaclava-wearing thieves accidentally smashed a window in their getaway car during an early morning burglary at a Shepparton business.

Shepparton Crime Investigation Unit Detective Senior Constable Nathan Berryman said two people wearing balaclavas broke into Leigh Egan Cycles in Edward St about 3.20am on Tuesday, July 2.

The pair stole an electric bike and some other accessories.

They also attempted to steal a second electric bike, but it would not fit in their black SUV.

It was left behind at the front of the shop.

Det Sen Constable Berryman said the pair smashed the back window of their SUV after they pulled the boot closed on the stolen bike.
