Three men were taken to hospital after an explosion in Kialla on Sunday, April 10.

Shepparton Detective Senior Constable Jessica Williams said emergency services responded to reports of an explosion at a Greybox Way address about 10.30am.

A Wangaratta man, 30, and a Kialla man, 27 were airlifted to the Melbourne Alfred hospital, Det Sen Const Williams said.

A 22-year-old Shepparton man was taken to GV Health with non-life-threatening injuries, she said.

An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said the man taken to The Alfred, aged in his 20s, suffered burns to his face, and airways.

The man in his 30s also suffered burns to his face, airways and hands, the spokesperson said.

Det Sen Const Williams said police believed the explosion occurred in a firepit, and may have been caused by an aerosol can.

She said Shepparton’s Crime Investigation Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
