A toilet paper run has landed a man in trouble with police.

Baris Tokay, 34, of Shepparton, pleaded guilty in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court to drug driving, driving while suspended and driving without P-plates.

Prosecutor Leading Senior Constable Deryn Boote said Tokay tested positive for methamphetamine after the Jeep he was driving was pulled over by police on Numurkah Rd, Shepparton at about 12.10am on January 13.

He was also driving while suspended and without P-plates.

He was near the APCO service station and told police he “had to get toilet paper and cigarettes”, Leading Sen Constable Boote said.

Representing himself in court, Tokay said it was a “dumb decision” and he had since been in a drug and alcohol program, which had been going well so far.

Magistrate Amina Bhai noted Tokay had previously been before the court for another driving charge and fined him $1200 and disqualified him from driving for 12 months.
