Police have recovered thousands of dollars worth of Christmas presents that were allegedly taken from a stolen car before it was torched in Congupna on Tuesday, December 13.

According to police, the car was stolen from Smith St, Tallygaroopna about 5am and emergency services were called to find it on fire on Farrell Rd, Congupna about 5.48am.

Nobody was inside the car at the time and the exact circumstances are yet to be determined.

Police said they recovered the presents at a Shepparton house.
