Weapon allegedly brandished in shop robbery

A small Shepparton supermarket was allegedly held up on Wednesday, October 5, by a man brandishing a weapon.

Shepparton Crime Investigation Unit Detective Sergeant Peter Warden said a man allegedly armed with a weapon entered Goulburn Valley Supermarket and Liquor in Branditt Ave at 10.44am.

The man allegedly threatened staff and demanded cash from the shopkeeper.

He left with a small amount of money and a “couple of handfuls” of cigarette packets, Det Sgt Warden said.

He fled on foot, heading west on Branditt Ave, before turning right into Malcolm Cres.

The man was perceived to be Caucasian, 20-30 years old, with a slim to medium build, wearing dark clothing and his face was covered.

No one was injured in the incident.

Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
