After stealing from 7-Eleven, a Shepparton woman has faced court.

Kay Scott, 38, of Shepparton, pleaded guilty in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court to theft.

Prosecutor Senior Constable Sarah Bird said Scott took 13 grocery items worth $45.80 from the 7-Eleven convenience store on Wanganui Rd, Shepparton, at about 12.15pm on September 17, 2023.

Scott was in the store to pay and sign off a fuel debt and didn’t try to pay for the items, the court heard.

She told police “I can’t even remember, I forgot, I don’t know” when she was arrested on November 8, 2023, Sen Constable Bird said.

Scott’s defence solicitor Luke Slater said his client had only stolen a small amount of items, and she had an intellectual disability and a “difficult upbringing”.

Magistrate Simon Zebrowski fined Scott $200.
