A woman charged over a fatal Goulburn Valley crash last year has appeared briefly in court.

A woman charged over a crash in which a five-year-old girl died and a pregnant mother was injured looks set to face a committal hearing in court later this year.

Chrystle Olivia Kemp, 27, of Shepparton, was on crutches as she faced Shepparton Magistrates’ Court briefly on Tuesday, June 11 for a committal mention.

She is charged with dangerous driving causing death, dangerous driving causing serious injury, dangerous driving, careless driving and failing to stop at a stop sign.

The charges come after a crash between three vehicles at the intersection of Old Dookie Rd and Boundary Rd at Shepparton East on October 20 last year.

Ms Kemp’s passenger, Shepparton five-year-old Savannah Kemp, died in the crash.

The driver of another of the vehicles, then 32-year-old Elodie Aldridge, was 34 weeks pregnant with her unborn son, but during an emergency C-section at hospital after the crash it was discovered the unborn baby had died.

The charge of dangerous driving causing serious injury relates to the injuries suffered by Mrs Aldridge during the crash.

Two other men in the third vehicle were taken to hospital for observation.

At court on Tuesday, Ms Kemp’s defence counsel said he was waiting for disclosure materials from the prosecution relating to the serious injury charge.

The defence counsel was also granted leave to cross-examine the police informant in the committal.

The matter has been set down for a committal hearing in October.

Ms Kemp remains on bail.
